The Southeast Education Centre project consisted of two phases which both included extensive renovations to the existing building, as well as several new additions.  The total area of the two phases is 146,000 ft2.  The additions included a new multi-purpose space, multi-cultural center, new gymnasium, theater, new administrative areas, new commercial kitchen as well as new student common areas.  The renovation of the existing facility included updating the existing corridors, upgraded entrance areas, renovating existing classrooms, in addition to replacement of all mechanical and electrical systems complete with new distribution, new heating systems, replacement of existing lighting and extensive upgrades to the fire protection systems.  The projected included several phases with students being relocated to alternate areas of the school to accommodate construction in a phased approach. The use of the existing college provided some flexibility to the phases and larger work areas.  Overall scheduling was paramount as areas needed to be completed, turned over, and students relocated prior the next phase commencing.  Several sessions were held with the ownership group to ensure that careful planning and scheduling was monitored and updated regularly to ensure that all user groups were aware of the changes as the project progressed.
